Paweł Ochyński on how to make a cutting edge power bank

Today, our newest power bank from PowerPlay series - Ultra model - had its premiere. It is the most capacious and efficient power bank we have ever produced. We invite you to a short interview with the CEO and founder of Green Cell, Pawel Ochyński, who has revealed to us a little bit of a mystery about the process of creating this product.

Where did you get the idea for such product?

There are a lot of power banks on the market that charge devices like tablet or phone, but there are few good quality models that would offer something more than that. We wanted to create a product that would satisfy all customer needs in one go. By taking PowerPlay Ultra on the road, one power bank will be able to charge your laptop and other smaller mobile devices at the same time.

What was the inspiration for the design?

It was very important to us that the look of the device itself was attractive and stylistically fit with the most popular mobile devices. This is the first power bank of our project that has an aluminum casing, so it always looks good regardless of where we use it. The LED charge indicator and Tap to Wake functionality is a great addition and homage to the current trends in the technology market.

What do you think is the best feature of PowerPlay Ultra? .

Its capabilities and software. One of the USB-C PD ports can provide a 65W charge and the total output is 128W. Thanks to it you can charge your laptop, tablet and phone at once! In combination with the capacity of 28.600 mAh it gives us the perfect balance between compact size and capabilities. We also took care of the speed of charging the power bank itself, despite the high capacity, it takes only 2 hours to recharge the battery. We have spent a lot of time on ensuring compatibility with all devices that can be charged.

What would you do differently if you could go back in time by a year?

Nothing in the device itself. During this year we have gained a lot of valuable experience and we will certainly aim for a shorter Time to Market for future projects. PowerPlay Ultra is the first device that we can call a real flagship in our line-up and it turns out that we had to spend more time on such an undertaking than we initially assumed.

If we already have a top shelf product, what next in the power bank segment?

Of course it is not our last word. If this model successfully passes the market test, the next step will be the development of technology in terms of device to user communication. Power banks will use the app to inform how much battery it has left, how long it will charge the connected devices and report on the session. We took the first steps on developing such solutions and we want to show them next year.
